Listen: Megafauna’s new song “Time to Go”

Austin’s Megafauna revels in prog-rock and power-pop excess. Since the band’s formation in mid-2009, they’ve experimented with their crossover sound on two full-length albums (2010’s Larger Than Human and 2012’s Surreal Estate) and through relentless touring around the United States and Europe. Along the way, guitarist and vocalist Dani Neff was even awarded the title of “Austin’s Best Electric Guitarist” for 2013. Now, the band is back at it with their third album, Maximalist, due out April 15th via Danimal Kingdom.

Their latest single, “Time to Go”, blends arena-sized guitar riffs and flourishing pop melodies. Neff indulges in shoegaze fuzz, while bassist Greg Yancey and drummer Zack Humphrey build a thudding, low-end groove ready to shatter your car windows. Think Kevin Shields rearranging Metric’s “Help I’m Alive”, only with prog-y intricacy and even more rousing tenacity. Listen in below:

For more from Maximalist, check out “Haunted Factory”.

In support of the album, the band will be on the road starting later this month. Consult the full schedule below.
