In December, School of Seven Bells co-founder Benjamin Curtis lost his battle with cancer. Prior to his death, however, his bandmate, management, and friends organized a charity concert featuring the likes of Paul Banks and The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr. The August event at New York’s Bowery Hotel also included an auction, during which 500 extremely-limited copies of SVIIB’s 2012 EP Put Your Sad Down were sold.
Now, Alejandra Deheza has decided to release the remaining 300 copies of the EP for Record Store Day (April 19th). Serving as some of Curtis’ final recordings, the 10-inch features a dust sleeve designed by graphic artist Blanda Eggenschwiler (who has also done work for Obey and Ego Jewelry).
Below, check out the EP standout “Secret Days”:
The 10-inch is apparently just the beginning of a surge of forthcoming SVIIB news. In a recent Facebook post, Deheza wrote, “We’re excited to say that we have some new School of Seven Bells news to share with you in the upcoming days, weeks and months.” She also took time to acknowledge fans’ support, adding, “All the letters of support and caring words that so many of you have sent in, every one of them appreciated.”
