Watch: Pharrell and Hans Zimmer perform on Saturday Night Live

Believe it or not, but on Saturday, Pharrell celebrated his 41st birthday. He celebrated in epic fashion, returning to 30 Rockefeller for his first appearance on Saturday Night Live in eight years. Making up for last time, the superstar producer supported the release of his new LP G I R L with an impressive rendition of the chart-topping single “Happy”, accompanied by a live band and break dancers. Later, he crooned through “Marilyn Monroe” with the aid of a string orchestra directed by Hans Zimmer. He also participated in a sketch where he looked for a backing singer and yes, there was a joke about his hat. Watch the replay below.

Next up for Pharrell, he’ll hit the road opening for Bruno Mars in addition to an appearance at Coachella later this month. He’s also working with Zimmer on the score for the new Spider-Man movie.
