While he’s known more for his work within the realm of electronic music, Four Tet has made the occasional dalliance into hip-hop. He’s remixed the likes of MF Doom and Madvillain, collaborated with J Dilla and Guilty Simpson, and has even put together a few entertaining mixes. Now, he’s been tagged to produce a new track for Atlanta rapper Rome Fortune.
As one might expect, the production on “One Time For” isn’t your traditional beat; instead, Four Tet sticks with what brought him to the dance, blending bits of dub percussion and rhythms with lasery synths and angelic vocal samples. Fortune isn’t exactly your traditional MC either, as his sing-rap-talk style and mix of braggery and self-awareness is a truly proper fit for the non-traditional soundcsape. So, does everyone prefer Rome Tet or Rome Fourtune?

The duo has also teamed up for a second, as-yet-untitled track due out sometime in the near future.
