Even as he preps to be host of this year’s ESPY Awards and works so Toronto’s residents never go without lint rollers, Drake’s still made time for new music in recent months. After releasing “Draft Day” and “Days in the East” back in April, he returns today with another new single, “0 to 100”. (As Miss Info points out, Drake’s been previewing the track live as of late.)
This time around, there’s no sports-related gimmicks or serenading to ex-girlfriends; instead, the track, co-produced by Boi-1da, Noah “40” Shebib, and Ninteen85, is six minutes of pure braggadocious rhymes. While this writer prefers when Drake gets all sappy and sentimental, it’s hard to argue with the results: sure there’s the bad (a really terrible and extended reference to Forrest Gump), but cocky Drake still manages to make rhymes about being cool before Twitter seem to actually matter.
Aside from his near-endless bragging, Drake also teases that his new album, the follow-up to last year’s Nothing Was The Same, is due out in Spring 2015.
