Big Day Out, one of Australia’s largest music festivals, will be taking 2015 off due to a “shortage of headliners.” According to FasterLouder, Big Day Out founder AJ Maddah made the revelation on Twitter, describing the available acts as “fuck all.”
Big Day Out is owned by C3 Presents, the same company behind Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits in the U.S. In recent years, Big Day Out and Lolla have shared several headlining acts, such as Arcade Fire, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Muse, and Soundgarden. Thus, it’s certainly possible that these American festivals may face a similar dearth of talent.
Maddah specifically mentioned Foo Fighters and OutKast as two of the acts considered as headliners for 2015. It’s unclear who else the festival reached out to. C3 Presents says it still intends to bring back Big Day Out in 2016.
