U.S. screenings announced for Pulp documentary, A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets

As previously reported, Britpop vets Pulp are the focus of a new documentary by filmmaker Florian Habicht. Pulp: A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets documents the band’s December 2012 hometown show in Sheffield, England, ultimately one of their final performances ever (or, at least, for the foreseeable future). The film debuted at South by Southwest back in March, and began its UK theatrical run in June.

Now, the film is set for a series of U.S. screenings this fall. The first three events take place this month: tonight (August 5th) in Los Angeles, featuring appearances from Habicht and frontman Jarvis Cocker; August 6th at New York’s Film Society of Lincoln; and August 7th at Brooklyn’s Rooftop Films, which will feature Cocker judging a Pulp karaoke contest. The remaining showings take place November 19th in markets such as Boston, Detroit, Seattle, San Diego, Dallas, and Honolulu. There’s also a standalone screening on November 26th in Los Angeles.

To accompany the announcement, the production has unveiled the film’s poster (above) and another trailer. This latest preview offers a look at the film’s entire scope: a mix of concert footage and interviews with band members and residents of Sheffield as Pulp attempts to “share their thoughts on fame, love, mortality – & car maintenance.” The first trailer is still available here.
