Legendary singer Van Morrison has announced his 35th studio album, Duets: Re-Working the Catalogue. Due March 24th from RCA Records, the record sees Morrison revisiting 16 tracks from his storied 360-song catalogue with the help of some big name friends.
Morrison purposefully avoided his popular hits for the project, instead shining a light on deeper cuts largely from his post-1980 albums. Hence you’ll hear “Some Peace of Mind” with the late Bobby Womack, “Wild Honey” with Joss Stone, “Fire in the Belly” with Steve Winwood, and “Whatever Happened to P.J. Proby” with, yes, P.J. Proby. Morrison’s daughter Shana also appears on “Rough God Goes Riding”.
As a first listen to the record, Morrison’s new version of “Real Real Gone” with Michael Bublé is streaming below (via The Huffington Post). Morrison’s website also notes that “Some Peace of Mind” will be released March 3rd, the Mark Knopfler-featuring “Irish Heartbeat” on March 10th, and “Fire in the Belly” on March 17th.
Pre-orders for the album are available now. Below, find the complete tracklist with guest collaborators.
