Zoolander 2 officially announced at Paris Fashion Week runway show

Zoolander 2

Get ready for some really, really, ridiculously good news: The Zoolander sequel is on. Paramount Pictures announced the news in the most appropriate way possible by having stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson walk out during Maison Valentino’s runway show at Paris Fashion Week in full Derek and Hansel mode.

Update — March 11th: Watch video of Hansel and Derek backstage prior to yesterday’s runway walk.

A follow-up to the 2001 comedy smash has been on and off the rumor mill for years, but now it’s officially a-go. Deadline reported in October that Penélope Cruz had signed on to join Stiller, Wilson, and the also returning Will Ferrell. Justin Theroux wrote the script, which sees the once-feuding Hansel and Derek attempt to re-enter the world of modeling.

“In the fashion world, if you go away for a year, it’s changed — it just happens so quickly,” Stiller told MTV in 2010. “I think the idea in the beginning of the movie is that it’s 10 years later, and Derek and Hansel are literally forgotten. Nobody remembers who they are, so they have to reinvent themselves.”

There are conflicting reports on whether Stiller will once again direct or if Theroux will take over. The film is set for a February 12th, 2016 release.
