Damien Rice issued his third studio album, My Favourite Faded Fantasy, last October, but already he’s back with new music. The Irish troubadour has contributed a pair of songs to the upcoming animated movie Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet. Ahead of the both the film and soundtrack’s release, Rice has unveiled one of the tracks in “Hypnosis”.
More lighthearted than Rice’s usual output, the song features the gentle coo of a piano and the backing of rich brass instrumentation. Listen in below.
The Prophet, which is based on Gibran’s book of 26 essays, was produced by Salma Hayek-Pinault and counts Liam Neeson, John Krasinski, and Alfred Molina among its voice cast. It will open in New York and Los Angeles on August 7th. The soundtrack is due to hit stores on July 31st via Warner Bros. and includes additional music from Oscar winner Glen Hansard.
Rice, meanwhile, will be touring throughout the summer behind My Favourite Faded Fantasy.
