Bradley Cooper‘s latest film went through a few title changes before finally settling on Burnt. Originally dubbed Chef, that name was axed to avoid confusion with John Favreau’s movie of the same name; then came Adam Jones, the name of Cooper’s chef character. Now, though, Burnt is made official with the release of the first trailer.
Cooper’s Jones is a chef who made it big fast while too young to handle the fame. Two Michelin stars in, he flamed out and fell into drugs, disappearing from the culinary scene. Now, however, he’s gunning for that third star with renewed passion. “I don’t want my restaurant to be a place where you come and eat,” he says in the trailer. “I want people to sit at that table and be sick with longing.”
But it seems not everyone wants to see Chef Jones back in the game. “If you try to start a new restaurant, there are at least a dozen people who will try to have you killed,” warns a friend. It’s the high-stakes game of cooking, and you can check it out below.
Burnt boasts a pretty stellar cast, including Sienna Miller, Omar Sy, Daniel Brühl, Matthew Rhys, Uma Thurman, and Emma Thompson. It’s set for an October 23rd release via The Weinstein Company. Read the official synopsis below.
Chef Adam Jones (Cooper) had it all – and lost it. A two-star Michelin rockstar with the bad habits to match, the former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene did everything different every time out, and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive Michelin star though, he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (miller). This remarkably funny and emotional story is about the love of food, the love between two people, and the power of second chances.
