Might Will Smith finally obtain that elusive Oscar in 2016? He certainly looks to be going for it with his latest role as Dr. Bennet Omalu in Concussion.
Omalu is the Nigerian-born forensic neuropathologist credited for discovering chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain trauma condition caused by repeated blows to the head. In the early 2000s, Omalu sought to bring awareness to the issue despite much resistance from the NFL.
Concussion is directed by Peter Landesman (Parkland) and also stars Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Arliss Howard, Paul Reiser, David Morse, and Albert Brooks. Look for it in theaters on December 25th.
