Arthur Ashin will return to his alt R&B project Autre Ne Veut with the forthcoming release of Age of TransparencyHe previously previewed the Anxiety follow-up with the lead single “World War Pt. 2”, and now has shared the latest track, “Panic Room”.

Fluttering flute sounds and a dazzling array of buzzing electronics keep the song firmly in Autre Ne Veut’s experimental métier, but there’s a lot more going on here. Synth lines blur the line between ’80s pop and deep soul, while what sounds like a standup bass provides a jazzy line that ripples underneath the verses. The chorus, however, is a veritable orgy of bright noise, at the forefront of which are the heavily modulated layers of vocals singing out, “Oh, all the time you say nothing else/ I can’t face you, no I never will.” Take a listen via Spotify bellow.

The self-produced Age of Transparency is due out October 2nd through Downtown Records.
