There’s nothing worse than having your couple’s getaway interrupted by an uninvited guest — except when that unexpected visitors is an old romantic flame. In the trailer for director Luca Guadagnino’s A Bigger Splash, that undesirable situation goes from awkward to downright dangerous.
The film sees Tilda Swinton in the role of a rockstar on a vacation with her film director boyfriend, played be Matthias Schoenaerts. When her former lover and record producer Harry (Ralph Fiennes) lands on the same island, the idyllic vacation becomes fraught with jealously. It’s more than just a love triangle between Schoenaerts-Swinton-Fiennes, however, as Harry has brought along his attractive daughter (Dakota Johnson), and the young lady has some hungry gazes for the studly Schoenaerts.
When you’ve got a pair of music legends, a popular filmmaker, and a PYT all making eyes of lust and longing at each other, things are going to get testy. As the trailer hints at, though, there are also moments of levity, sexuality, and high tension in this “erotic black comedy thriller.” Check out the preview below.
