Paul Rudd’s upcoming schedule continues to grow by the month. In October, Marvel announced that the sequel to this year’s Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, would see a July 2018th release. Now, the actor has joined the sci-fi thriller Mute along with True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard.
Variety summarizes the upcoming film thusly:
“Skarsgard will portray a mute bartender in Berlin, 40 years in the future in what has become a roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West. His character will be looking for a woman who has disappeared — and when his search takes him deep into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons (led by Rudd’s character) seem to be the only recurring clue.”
Set to direct is Duncan Jones, known for Source Code and the upcoming 2016 movie adaptation of video game Warcraft, and production is expected to begin in the spring. The story is based on a script from Jones and Mike Johnson.
Rudd recently finished filming Captain America: Civil War; meanwhile, Skarsgard completed his work on the forthcoming 2016 version of Tarzan, which sees him in the titular role.
