Modest Mouse and Brand New are hitting the road together for a joint US summer tour. The trek officially kicks off in late June and runs through all of July, with dates scheduled in cities like Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, New York, Phoenix, and Seattle.
Though this marks the first time the two alt rock outfits are formally touring, they did share the stage for a string of shows in Summer 2014, including a gig at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium (I was there, it was neat!). Both acts are billed as headliners and will alternate performing closing sets throughout the outing.
A press release notes that Brand New are working on new material — possibly their final studio album? — and should be dropping music in the next 12 months; last year, they released “Mene”, their first single in six years. Meanwhile, Modest Mouse’s last album was 2015’s Strangers to Ourselves.
