This week, Washington, D.C.’s iconic 9:30 Club is celebrating its 35th anniversary with its own World’s Fair. The exhibition, featuring interactive experiences alongside rare memorabilia and imagery, leads up to the release of the club’s new archival collection, 9:30 The Book. Penned by Consequence of Sound senior staff writer Ryan Bray, the 264-page book offers a visual history lesson of the famed venue via never-before-seen photos, first-hand accounts of club staffers, and stories from those who have played and attended shows there.

One such section of the book is entitled “I Saw Them at the 9:30 Back in…” Coupled with images and relics, musicians including Henry Rollins of Black Flag, David Yow of Jesus Lizard, The Dismemberment Plan’s Eric Ezelson, Moby, and Minutemen/fIREHOSE member Mike Watt share memories of the greatest shows they’ve witnessed at 9:30. There are also tales from club co-owner Rich Heinecke and the coat check taker Claudette Silver.

Check out the pages below, and head to to place your pre-orders. 9:30 The Book will ship later this month.
