Leonardo DiCaprio’s docket is plenty full thanks to upcoming roles in The Devil in the White City; a biopic about Richard Jewel, the man wrongly accused of the 1996 Olympic bombing; and Satori, where he plays a trained CIA assassin in post World War 2 Japan. Nevertheless, DiCaprio recently expressed interest in a film about one of Russia’s powerful leaders.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, DiCaprio said he would like to play either Russian President Vladimir Putin, Soviet Union architect Vladimir Lenin, or Grigori Rasputin, the former president of Russia. “I think there should be more films about Russian history because it has many stories worthy of Shakespeare. That is fascinating for an actor,” DiCaprio explained.

In response to DiCaprio’s comments, Russia’s old film studio Lenfilm has offered DiCaprio the lead role in a movie about Lenin. “Leonardo DiCaprio is often compared to Lenin in his youth. We have enough scenery and props to recreate the era of the revolution,” said Lenfilm spokesman Valeriy Karlov in an interview with Russia’s Baltika FM.
