A NickToons cinematic universe may seem far fetched, but that’s exactly what’s in the works over at Nickelodeon. According to Variety, Jared Hess has been tasked with helming the unique animated film, which will feature iconic characters from Doug, Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Ahh! Real Monsters, and more together on one screen.

Hess is co-writing the film with his wife Jarusha. The pair are known for such films as Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, which they co-wrote and directed. Plot details are currently under wraps, but Variety notes that the NickToons film will take inspiration from Robert Zemeckis’ Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

As previously reported, Nickelodeon has also green-lit a Hey Arnold! movie from show creator Craig Barlett. Both of these projects are part of Nickelodeon’s “emphasis on wringing new value” out of its extensive archives, notes Variety, and there are plans for more reboots in the near future. That includes live-action series, which Variety speculates could include Clarissa Explains It All. Mitchell Kreigman, the creator of Clarissa, recently published a new book,Things I Can’t Explain, chronicling the character’s life as a young adult in the big city.
