In support of their upcoming ninth studio album, Radiohead will headline several major music festivals across the globe this summer, including three prominent ones in North America.
The legendary UK outfit will serve as a headlining act for Chicago’s Lollapalooza; San Francisco’s Outside Lands; and Montreal’s Osheaga Music Festival, sources have confirmed to Consequence of Sound.
Lollaplooza, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2016, takes place for the first time over four days, July 28th – 31st, at Chicago’s Grant Park. Radiohead previously headlined the festival in 2008 following the release of In Rainbows.

Organizers for Lollapalooza did not return our request for comment, but it is believed the festival will announce its full 2016 lineup sometime this spring. In addition to Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem is widely expected to be among the headlining acts.
Radiohead are also returning to Outside Lands after headlining its inaugural edition in 2008. The San Francisco-based festival occurs August 5th – 7th at Golden Gate Park.
Reached for a comment, a representative for Outside Lands declined to confirm our report, responding simply, “We would be thrilled to have Radiohead headline Outside Lands, but we do not announce our lineup for a couple of months.”
As for Osheaga, it will mark Radiohead’s debut performance at the festival. Osheaga founder Nick Farkas has long expressed his desire to have the band headline, telling the Toronto Sun last year, “A conversation that I have every single year is, ‘What is Radiohead doing?'”
In a statement, an Osheaga representative responded, “We are currently working on finishing up the lineup. We should be announcing shortly.”
Already Radiohead have announced three festival appearances in Europe for this summer. They’ll appear at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound in early June, and in July, they’ll perform at both Switzerland’s OpenAir St. Gallen and NOS Alive in Lisbon, Portugal. Additional festivals performances, including more in North America, are expected.
All of this comes as Radiohead gears up for the release of their as-yet-untitled ninth studio album, the follow-up to 2011’s The King of Limbs. Back in October, the band’s members established a new company called Dawn Chorus LLP; they took similar actions months before releasing their prior two studio albums. A release date for the new album remains unconfirmed, though recent events do suggest its release could be imminent.
A representative for Radiohead declined to comment on the band’s touring plans for the US or a timetable for the new album’s release.
