On April 8th, M83 return with Junk, their first album in nearly five years and seventh to date. For the follow-up to Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, Anthony Gonzalez & co. reunited with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen. Beck and previous M83 collaborator Susanne Sundfør are among the LP’s handful of “unexpected guests.”
Earlier this month brought the release of lead single “Do It, Try It”. Now, as the release date draws near, M83 have shared “Solitude”. A six-minute track that sounds both nostalgic and forward-thinking, it’s highlighted by synths straight out of an ’80s ballad and the kind of sweeping string and piano arrangements perfect for soundtracking a cinematic outer space scene. Much like on Hurry Up, Gonzalez’s vocals here are a gorgeous yet ghostly force.

In support of Junk, M83 will embark on a lengthy tour across North America and Europe beginning next month.
