Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders held a campaign rally at Coney Island on Sunday. He was introduced by Michael Stipe, and the former R.E.M. frontman did such a good job, he was invited to lunch.
Sanders, his wife Jane, and Stipe enjoyed an order of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs, making for one of the great photo ops in modern American history. And if you’re wondering, Sanders prefers mustard and sauerkraut on his dogs.
Enjoy more photos of Sander and Stipe’s epic lunch date below. Video of Stipe’s speech follows.
I’m just going to go ahead and say it: Stipe would make one hell of a vice president.
