Music producer and reality TV star David Gest has died at the age of 62, according to BBC News.
After befriending Tito Jackson as a child, Gest maintained a lifelong relationship with the Jackson family, culminating in several high-profile musical collaborations. In 2001, he produced the highest-rated musical television special in history, Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration: The Solo Years, which marked the last onstage reunion between Michael Jackson and his siblings and one of his final solo concerts.
Prior to Jackson’s death, Gest was working with him on a project that involved turning Robert Burns’ poems into contemporary show tunes.
Gest was also known for his short and tumultuous marriage to singer Liza Minnelli, as well as his frequent appearances on reality television.
