The Avalanches have updated their website and social media, is a return imminent?

15 years after their debut album, it appears Australian outfit is readying a comeback

Could this finally be the year The Avalanches make their return?

If you take stock in the band’s recent social media activity, something is definitely afoot. As Stereogum points out, a gold butterfly now adorns their website and various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and a newly launched Instagram. The update was made today, suggesting an announcement could be imminent.

Last we heard from The Avalanches in June 2015, they were still at work on their long-awaited follow-up to their 2001 debut, Since I Left You. At the time, a representative for Modular Records said, “Album sounds awesome, but there’s no dates or anything planned. The official line is ‘stay tuned’.”

Danny Brown, Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux, and possibly Ariel Pink are among the artists who’ve worked with The Avalanches on the album. Darren Seltmann, a founding member of the band, announced his departure last year.
