Yumi Zouma announce debut album, share “Keep It Close To Me” — listen

10-track effort Yoncalla arrives in May

Yumi Zouma consider New Zealand their home base, but oftentimes the synthpop act’s members are scattered across the globe. In fact, all of their releases, EP and EP II, came to fruition without the band actually writing or recording in the same room together.

The four-piece have changed their approach, however, for their forthcoming full-length debut titled Yoncalla. Due out May 27th through Cascine, the 10-track effort is said to be a truly team affair. In a press statement, guitarist Charlie Ryder elaborated:

“Yumi Zouma has always been an exercise in refining ideas and collaborating, but this was the first time we weren’t limited or protected by distance. With Yoncalla, the process was different, and it can be scary to present raw ideas to your friends ‐ but it’s also incredible to see songs evolve through the sparks of inspiration that bounce between people in the same room.”

In advance of the LP, Yumi Zouma have shared “Keep It Close To Me”, a lead single wispy in texture yet weighty in sentiment. Stream it below (via Gorilla vs Bear).

In support of Yoncalla, the group has lined up a global tour, which includes dates in the US and Europe. Find the full itinerary below the album artwork and tracklist.
