Trentemøller shares new song “River in Me” and video featuring Savages’ Jehnny Beth — watch

Danish producer Trentemøller is gearing up to put out his first album in almost three years, Fixion. The 12-track collection was written and recorded in both New York and Copenhagen after a lengthy stint on the road in support of 2013’s Lost.

As with his three previous LPs, Trentemøller adopted a new approach for Fixion. “This time around, I wanted the musical universe to have more space,” he explains in a statement. “I wanted it, in a way, to be more minimalistic and to boil it down to its most essential. That said, I didn’t want to lose all of those details that only actually open up when you really listen closely.”

A press release further describes the record thusly: “With its coldwave synths and hypnotic, driving bass books, the record paints a picture of both reflective night drives through Blade Runner-esque metropolises and introspective, isolated Scandinavian evenings spent pondering life itself.”

Ahead of Fixion‘s September 16th release date, the producer has let loose the driving lead single, “River in Me”, featuring guest vocals from Jehnny Beth of Savages. Trentemøller helped mix Savages’ excellent new album, Adore Me, and has only praises for the frontwoman. “She has this really intense and unique voice and it ended up being really challenging, and fun, to take that voice out of the Savages’ universe and into mine.”
