Chicago rapper Saba shares new song “Symmetry” — listen

Chance the Rapper guest and rising Chicago star shines when left to his own devices

Chicago rapper and producer Saba has been popping up all over the Windy City heat map lately, lending memorable contributions to Chance the Rapper’s “Angels” and Jamila Woods’ “Emerald St.” (he also straight-up killed it at our Red Bull Sound Select show earlier this month).

With the premiere of his new song “Symmetry”, Saba continues his recent run of excellence and makes a case for himself as one of Chicago’s brightest young stars. The West Side product has delivered a tantalizingly slow-burning track in which he basically throws the kitchen sink at the soundboard. Aside from his typically smooth raps, the track features a thick R&B groove and synths so watery you could slide off ’em. Speaking to NYLON about the song, he said, “‘Symmetry’ is about finding your other half, or better half, even. They say the most beautiful people have symmetrical features, and that that’s what beauty is. I tried to take that concept and expand on it to say that symmetry in life is when everything lines up, things just start to make sense.

Speaking of things lining up, Saba is destined to be huge if he keeps delivering the goods like this. Stream “Symmetry” below, and make sure to catch Saba when he takes the stage at Lollapalooza this weekend.
