Hanni El Khatib shares ominous new track “Come Down” — listen

The bluesy alt-rocker does a lot with a little on his latest offering

It’s only been one month (almost to the date) since bluesy alt-rocker Hanni El Khatib released his three-track EP Savage Times, Vol. 2, which followed April’s release of Savage Times, Vol. 1, also a three-track effort. Today, the San Francisco native has shared a new single in “Come Down”.

The song sees Khatib throwing caution to the wind while he repeatedly affirms, “If God’s gon’ come down/ She better come now / If she ain’t gon’ come/ I’m gon’ do what I want,” interchangeably referring to the entity as both “he” and “she,” illustrating his form of God is a gender fluid one. The spares lyrics (which more or less repeat that one line) are swallowed in synth and supported by catchy finger snapping, which doesn’t deter from the overarching ominous energy.

    Listen to the track below.
