Interpol’s Paul Banks and RZA share blazing new song “Speedway Sonora” — listen

Collaborative project Banks & Steelz strike again with another preview of Anything But Words

Next month, Paul Banks and RZA will unveil Anything But Words, their debut album as collaborative project Banks & Steelz. The 11-track collection features special guests in Florence Welch, Ghostface Killah, and Kool Keith, and sees the Interpol frontman and Wu-Tang Clan rapper taking their friendship to the next level.

“When I met Paul, I recognized the New York energy he has as a music artist,” RZA previously told Rolling Stone. “We got to know each other playing chess and vibing out in the studio.”

“Our talents connected in a unique way and we started writing songs,” he added. “The outcome was something distinctively different from my previous work, yet with another layer of cool.”

Following singles “Love and War” and “Giant”, Banks & Steelz have unboxed “Speedway Sonora”. RZA launches his ferocious flow at bullet speeds, while Banks uses the song’s chorus to channel El Pintor gloom. Stream it below (via Stereogum).

Anything But Words arrives on August 26th through Warner Bros. In support, the two-piece have lined up their first string of live tour dates.
