Update: The festival has been canceled. According to a statement, “The event was not coming together in the way that it was envisioned, and all parties have agreed that putting on an event that is less than 100% would be a disservice to the fans and bands alike. Therefore, canceling the weekend-long event is in the best interest of all involved.”
The Riviera Maya region of Mexico is fast becoming a hotbed of destination festival experiences. Both My Morning Jacket and The Avett Brothers recently announced multi-night parties in the area, and now LCD Soundsystem can be added to the list. James Murphy and co. have curated a new festival dubbed Beach Vibes, which they will also headline with a pair of performances over two nights.
Located at the Barceló Maya resort, Beach Vibes will also feature performances from Hot Chip, Run the Jewels, Carl Craig, Holy Ghost!, DJ Harvey, The Black Madonna, Museum of Love, and a Jaun MacLean DJ set. In addition to the three nights of concerts, attendees will also have the option to take part in additional “adventures” both on and off site, including zip-lining, snorkeliing, deep sea fishing, and exploring the Mayan Temple of Coba.
The event will be held January 26th-28th, 2017, with pre-sale beginning July 8th and regular on-sale starting July 11th. Packages, many of which are all-inclusive, range from about $3,399 to $8,679 total, depending on which of the numerous available resorts you choose and how many guests are booking together.
