November 8th will see the release of a new authorized biography on Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan. Titled A Perfect Union of Contrary Things, the book was written by Keenan’s longtime friend, Sarah Jensen, and chronicles the musician’s “journey from his Midwest childhood to his years in the Army to his time in art school, from his stint at a Boston pet shop to his place in the international spotlight and his influence on the disparate fields of contemporary music and regional winemaking.” Along with Tool, Keenan fronts two other successful bands, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle.
Following the book’s release, Keenan will embark on an intimate book tour that includes visits to Nashville, New York City, Washington, DC, and Chicago, with additional dates to be announced shortly. During each event, Keenan will read excerpts from the book and also take part in a live Q&A (over/under on how many times he’s asked about the new Tool album?).
Update — Monday, August 1st at 10:15 a.m. CT: Keenan has added new dates in Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco as well as second readings in New York and Chicago.
