Michelle Obama gets her freak on with Missy Elliot in Carpool Karaoke — watch

The First Lady also sings "Signed, Sealed, Delivered", "Single Ladies", and "This is For My Girls" while riding shotgun with James Corden

According to the First Lady herself, Michelle Obama has only ridden shotgun once in the last seven-and-a-half years. You might find it hard to bemoan having a chauffeur and armed security detail at all times, but sometimes you just need to drive around rocking out to your favorite tunes, and that’s been denied Mrs. Obama for so long. Last night, she finally got the chance to enjoy some Carpool Karaoke with an appearance on the Late Late Show with James Corden.

The First Lady hopped into Corden’s SUV while the two simply circled around the White House — but it’s not the destination, it’s the journey. First they took on a track from President Obama’s first presidential campaign, the Stevie Wonder classic “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”. After professing her undying fandom for the singer, they moved onto another Obama favorite: “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé. Obama really got into her zone on that one, saying, “We were making honey in the [Bey]hive — to put in our Lemonade!”

Yep, the First Lady’s got jokes — and bars. The third song in the segment was the anthem for her Let Girls Learn initiative, the all-star collaboration “This is For My Girls”. The track features the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland, and Missy Elliott, the latter of whom actually popped up in the backseat to spit her verse. Of course, as Corden noted, you can’t have Missy in your car without bumping “Get Ur Freak On”, and so their ride ended with Mrs. Michelle Obama ferociously rapping, “Silence when I spit it out/ In your face/ Open your mouth/ Give you a taste.”
