Last week, Tegan and Sara shared with fans their Clea DuVall-directed music video for “BWU”. The synthpop duo returns today with another clip, this time in support of Love You to Death cut “Faint of Heart”.
Directed by Devon Kirkpatrick, it captures a Lip Sync Battle-type competition among some of the music’s biggest icons, including David Bowie, Prince, Madonna, and Elvis Presley. To portray these legends, the Quin sisters enlisted the help of the LGBTQ community.
“To be able to meet so many people from the LGBTQ community who are doing such important work was an honor and an added bonus to making this video,” Tegan told Teen Vogue, where the video premiered. She said that she and Sara decided not to be “in the video (other than a small cameo) as a way to truly showcase the talented performers and not overshadow them in any way. We knew we had a special opportunity to highlight these artists and didn’t want to take away from them or their performances.”
Bowie is played by Cooper Treibel; Prince by Tyler Ford; Ella Giselle by Madonna. Tegan and Sara are portrayed by Ni Ching-Marino and Eli Erlick, respectively. According to the band, the visual was filmed the day after the tragic massacre at gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando last month.
