The National have collaborated with Bob’s Burgers so many times over the years that it’s about darn time the New York indie rockers were named the FOX series’ resident house band. (As the Louise character once declared on the show, “THINK ABOUT IT!”)
Matt Berninger & co. covered the animated show’s “Thanksgiving Song” in 2012, starred in the video for “Sailors In Your Gravy Boats” in 2013, and in 2014, worked their “Christmas Magic” in one of the series’ holiday clips. This week, The National do Bob Belcher, the family man of the show, a real solid by taking on his potty-themed tune “Bad Stuff Happens in the Bathroom”.
“But I’ll be outta here in no time/ I’ll be doing interviews and feelin’ just fine,” Berninger sings, recalling the season finale scene in which Bob’s tush gets glued to a toilet seat. CoSigned UK singer Låpsley also contributes, handling Louise’s lines.
Bad (and stinky) stuff does tend to happen in the washroom, but if it means The National will get involved somehow, well, it can’t be that bad, right? Now, if we could only get that new National album…
