If anyone knows how to make a big splash at Lollapalooza, it’s Perry Farrell. The Jane’s Addiction frontman conceived and created the festival 25 years ago, and his band returned to the main stage on Saturday night with some surprises in tow. First, they brought out Rage Against the Machine/Prophets of Rage guitarist (and known Chicago Cubs fan) Tom Morello to do his thing on “Mountain Song”. Later on in the set, legendary Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin showed up to perform “Jane Says”. Both appearances made sense within the context of Chicago’s Grant Park, as Morello is originally from the city’s suburbs and Chamberlin has lived in the area his whole life.
