Pearl Jam, no stranger to unique setlists or surprise guests, brought out hometown hero Dennis Rodman during their concert at Wrigley Field on Monday night. The former Chicago Bulls rebound beast joined the alt rockers onstage while they performed 1999 B-side cut “Black, Red, Yellow” and even proceeded to pick up and cradle frontman Eddie Vedder in his arms. That’s one way to end an already memorable North American tour.

Though his was an unexpected cameo, Rodman has long considered Pearl Jam one of his favorite bands. Back in 1996, he appeared onstage with the band and gave Vedder a piggyback ride. And in 2011, upon being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Rodman called the frontman a personal inspiration.
“Every time I was at the gym or in the locker room, any time I did anything, I put on Pearl Jam and listened to Eddie Vedder,” he said (via MassLive). “It wasn’t so much the band but Eddie, speaking straight through his heart.”
