Jimmy Eat World’s 2013 album, Damage, may not have stacked up to the best of their catalog, but the band is still one of the top 10 greatest pop punk bands of all time. That’s why we’re so excited to see the Arizona stalwarts return with a brand new single, “Get Right”.
The track is a heavy, angsty song about that gnawing feeling you get when nowhere seems to be comfortable. Sonically, it harkens back to the band’s Futures-era sound, where guitars crunched loudly and frontman Jim Adkins had a bit more snarl in his voice. Take a listen via the lyric video above.
“Get Right” premiered on Daniel P Carter’s BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, during which Adkins spoke to the host about JEW’s return. Though he held back on any details, he did say that the song is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming album. He also hinted that a lengthy world tour is in the works in support of the record. Stay tuned for more. Update: A release date for the new album is set for October 21st.
