Last week, Kings of Leon made an appearance on Later … with Jools Holland to preview their forthcoming new album, Walls. The band’s debut of album cut “Around the World” previously made its way online, and now their other two performances have popped up as well.
Their rendition of Walls lead single “Waste a Moment” demonstrates how well the song fits into the modern era of KoL (despite its nonsensical music video). More interestingly, however, was the band’s preview of the album’s title track. “Walls” is a gentle and stark piece of rock balladry with maybe a just a hint of Springsteen in the cadence. It’s also probably the most boring thing Nathan Followill has ever had to play.
Check out “Walls” above and “Waste a Moment” below. Walls the album is out October 14th through RCA.
Update — Thursday, September 22nd at 11:50 a.m. CT: Kings of Leon premiered the studio version of “Walls” on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 program this morning. Watch the single’s accompanying video below.
