We’re just a week away from the September 30th release of Remember Us to Life, the new album from Regina Spektor. What’s been shared from the What We Saw From the Cheap Seats has run the gamut of the Russian-born singer-songwriter’s talents, from the dark sprightliness of “Bleeding Heart” to the heavy groove of “Small Bill$” and the balladry of “Black and White”. Now we’re given the most straightforward pop track from the LP yet in the form of “Older and Taller”.
The final preview from Remember Us is everything we love from a Spektor song: playful, dramatic, lovely, and poignant. Her piano sets a bouncy rhythm that well-couches her lighthearted perspective on the existential question of growing older. “Enjoy your youth/ Sounds like a threat,” she sings on the refrain. “But I will anyway.” Cheers to that!
