The Weeknd is the musical guest for SNL’s season premiere

R&B crooner will appear alongside host Margot Robbie

    Saturday Night Live will kick off its 42nd season on October 1st. As announced today, Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie will host the premiere episode, with The Weeknd serving as musical guest.

    The Weeknd made his SNL debut just last year, performing “The Hills” with Nicki Minaj and “Can’t Feel My Face” from his 2015 LP, Beauty Behind the Madness. This go around, he’ll be promoting his new album STARBOY, due out November 25th. Just yesterday, he released the album’s first single and title track, featuring Daft Punk. Hopefully the Robots join The Weeknd on stage at 30 Rock.

    In related news, The Weeknd will in fact perform at New York’s annual Meadows Music & Art Festival in Queens on October 1st. Earlier today, the festival announced that the R&B crooner had to pull out due to a scheduling conflict. Just hours later, however, The Weeknd was re-added to the lineup. “We have been working to fix this & bring to you the show that was promised,” the festival said in a statement. “We are happy to announce that The Weeknd will be performing at 6:15pm.”
