Thurston Moore has released a new song today called “Chelsea’s Kiss”. The discordant noise rocker, which officially arrives on October 8th as part of Cassette Store Day, was written in support of the campaign to free Chelsea Manning, the United States Army soldier who was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment after divulging sensitive information via WikiLeaks. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Chelsea Manning Support Network.
In the nearly eight-minute track, the former Sonic Youth frontman can be heard describing Manning as a “security breacher, angel baby, punk princess,” adding, “The queen, king, first transgender ruler/ The royal highness of my majesty … Cure for evilness, Chelsea’s Kiss.” Stream it in full below courtesy of Pitchfork.
