If you’re looking for an intergalactic alternative to Star Wars this Christmas might we recommend Passengers, a new sci fi drama starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt that was made for $140 million less than the new Jurassic World sequel.
Passengers takes place aboard the Starship Avalon amidst a 120-year voyage to a distant planet. 5,259 people are aboard the ship stored in hibernation chambers so they do not age. However, due to a malfunction, a single passenger is awakened 90 years before anyone else. Faced with the prospect of growing old and dying alone, he eventually decides to wake up a second passenger. Can you guess who plays who?
Passengers — which was directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) and written by Jon Spaihts — is due in theaters on December 21st, 2016. In anticipation, watch the first trailer above.
