It’s day five of the 30 Days, 30 Songs program, and that means it’s time for another anti-Donald Trump original. For today’s offering, Franz Ferdinand plainly lay out their opinion on the Republican Presidential Nominee with “Demagogue”.
The band’s first new material since the departure of guitarist Nick McCarthy earlier this year, the track sways like a sinking ship rocked by a storm. Punctuated by electronic bleeps, Alex Kapranos sings out, “He’s a demagogue/ He plays with my fears/ A demagogue/ My shadow side dreaming/ The demagogue/ It feels so good to be dumb.” There’s even a reference to Trump’s “pussy-grabbing fingers,” indicating this song was recorded just within the last weeks after the Access Hollywood video scandal broke.
