Someone over at Disney must be watching his fantastic turn in FX’s Atlanta because Glover just scored the coveted role in the Han Solo anthology film and will star next to lead Alden Ehrenreich.
As previously reported, Glover was allegedly Disney’s first choice, despite the hush-hush casting sessions, which is basically how they played out the initial casting of Ehrenreich. He’ll follow the footsteps of Billy Dee Williams, who actually continues to play the role (as a voice) on Star Wars Rebels.
According to Variety, production will begin come January. Phil Lord and Chris Miller will direct from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan, who penned both The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens.
The film hits theaters on May 25, 2018.
