The Last Shadow Puppets share cover of “Les Cactus” — watch

Originally penned by Joacques Dutronc in 1967, the track appears on the band's upcoming EP, The Dream Synopsis

The Last Shadow Puppets are set to release a new EP entitled, The Dream Synopsis, on December 2nd. Coming eight months after the release of Everything You’ve Come to Expect , the EP collects two reworked album tracks and four studio versions of cover songs performed by the band during their 2016 tour.

Last month, Alex Turner and Miles Kane previewed the release with their surprisingly timely cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Is This What You Wanted”. The duo once again hit the nail on the head with the effort’s latest teaser, “Les Cactus”. The song was originally released by French singer-songwriter Joacques Dutronc in 1967. With lyrics that translate to “In their hearts, there are cactus/ In their wallet, there are cactus,” it’s annoyingly appropriate for 2016. Dressed up in a swinging bit of ’60s mod, however, it’s far more tolerable than the year itself. Take a listen via the track’s video above.

You can compare it to Dutronc’s original version below.

Recorded live in just one day at Hudson, New York’s Future-Past Studios, The Dream Synopsis also features covers of The Fall and Galxo Babies. Pre-orders for the limited edition red vinyl 12-inchCD and digital copies are going on now.
