David Bowie passed away on January 10th, 2016, two days after celebrating his 69th birthday. One year later, a series of tribute events are planned across the globe to commemorate the Thin White Duke and his massive legacy. As previously reported, Bowie’s longtime Gary Oldman will lead an event at London’s Brixton Academy on January 8th. Now, another show has been announced for January 10th at New York’s Terminal 5th and it promises a core lineup of his closest collaborators.
Mike Garson, Adrian Belew, Earl Slick, Gail Ann Dorsey, Sterling Campbell, and others will team up for “a very special David Bowie concert with Bowie people playing Bowie music Bowie style.” As a press release adds, “Individually these former Bowie band members performed, wrote and recorded together with David through several decades including the 1973’s Ziggy Stardust tour, the Diamond Dogs tour, Isolar II (Heroes) tour, to the hugely successful Serious Moonlight tour, the Sound And Vision greatest hits tour to Glastonbury 2000, Heathen, his final A Reality Tour and many of them appeared on Bowie’s triumphant comeback album, The Next Day.
Tickets go on sale Friday, December 9th at Noon local time.
Update: Additional shows are set for Los Angeles’ Wiltern on January 25th, the Sydney Opera House in January 29th, and Tokyo Dome City Hall on February 2nd.
