The script centers around two policemen, an old-timer portrayed by Gibson and a volatile younger partner played by Vaughn, who are suspended when a video of their strong-arm tactics draws widespread media attention. The duo descend into the criminal underworld to exact vengeance, but find far more than they wanted awaiting them in the shadows.

Vaughn starred as a scene-stealing sergeant in the Gibson-directed Hacksaw Ridge, which drew six Oscar nods, including best picture and best director. He previously starred in Zahler’s prison drama Brawl in Cell Block 99.
