Note: Spoilers Ahead
Little brother Bran may now be reigning over the Seven Kingdoms, but Jon Snow knows nothing about it. That is, the actor who plays the mighty bastard child. Kit Harington has admitted that he still hasn’t watched the final season of Game of Thrones, including the series finale episode.
“I still haven’t seen the show,” Harington confessed in a backstage interview at the 2019 Emmy Awards on Sunday. “So that’s how I dealt with that controversy.”
“I haven’t seen the final season, but I know what it took to shoot it,” added Harington. “It was hard and everyone put all of their love and effort into it.”

Unfortunately for most fans, they did watch all of season 8 and at least one million of them would like a total do-over of the six disappointing episodes — sans rogue coffee cups and water bottles. Even some of the show’s own principal cast members couldn’t believe the season’s storyline.
“I genuinely thought it was a joke script and that [showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] sent to everyone a script with their own character ends up on the Iron Throne,” Isaac Hempstead-Wright, the actor who portrays Bran Stark, previously commented. “‘Yeah, good one guys. Oh s—, it’s actually real?’”
Despite having not seen the televised version of the final GoT season, Harington obviously knows how things unfolded and went on to defend the way the writers chose to end it. “For us, we knew what we were doing was right, story wise,” he said. “We knew it was right for the characters because we lived with them for 10 years.”

GoT picked up 32 Emmy nominations, a supposed “validation” of the writing behind season 8. However, on Sunday the longtime HBO series snuck away with only a handful of actual wins, including Outstanding Drama Series and a Supporting win for Tyrion Lannister actor Peter Dinklage.
In case you’re having GoT withdrawals, the immersive Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience is touring across the US until early October, and tickets can be purchased here. There’s also a massive GoT box set collection available for purchase.
