We already knew that Halsey enlisted producers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for her upcoming album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. (Read our review here.)
But as it turns out, the Nine Inch Nails members aren’t the only big names attached to the record. Ahead of its release this Friday, August 27th, Halsey has uncovered the credits for her follow-up to 2020’s Manic, which include Dave Grohl, Lindsey Buckingham, and more.
If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power sees Grohl dust off his drum kit on “honey,” while Buckingham plays guitar on a track called “Darling,” which sounds like the name of a Fleetwood Mac song, anyway. TV On the Radio founding member Dave Sitek plays guitar on “You asked for this,” and Meat Beat Manifesto’s Jack Dangers did programming on “Girl Is a Gun.”
The rhythm section on “Lilith” is courtesy of bass legend Pino Palladino and drummer Karriem Riggins. Last, but definitely not least, Kevin Martin — the British DJ better known as The Bug — supplies a “menacing beat” on “Bells in Santa Fe.” Sounds interesting!
Executive produced by Reznor and Ross, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power arrives this week with an accompanying feature film of the same name. Halsey has described the project on social media as “a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth,” and it includes striking cover art to match.
