Back in November 2017, Conway the Machine was named our Artist of the Month and one of the major topics of conversation was his debut album on Shady Records. Since then, he’s released more than a dozen projects with only the Griselda compilation WWCD dropping on Eminem’s label. Today, he finally set the release date for his Shady debut, God Don’t Make Mistakes, out February 25th.
The long-anticipated album includes an all-star lineup of guests, most of whom Conway has already worked with before: Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Benny the Butcher, Westside Gunn, Jill Scott, T.I., and Beanie Sigel. Production was handled by frequent collaborators The Alchemist and Daringer, as well as Hit-Boy and Beat Butcha.
“Announcing the release date of God Don’t Make Mistakes with my new single ‘John Woo Flick,’ it’s perfect timing,” Conway said in a press statement. “Finally, my fans get to hear the music I put my heart and soul into.”
Marking Conway’s second single from God Don’t Make Mistakes, “John Woo Flick” is strictly a Buffalo affair. Along with his Griselda teammates Benny the Butcher and Westside Gunn, The Machine switches up his flow over a sinister beat produced by longtime collaborator Daringer.
All three rappers sound weary from success, with Conway spitting, “I’m tired of hearin’ old n****s talk ’bout back in the day/ I ride around with two things, that’s a MAC and a K.” Stream “John Woo Flick” below.
“Piano Love,” the first single from God Don’t Make Mistakes, was named Rap Song of the Week when it dropped last October. Since then, Conway has joined JAY-Z on “King Kong Riddim” off The Harder They Fall soundtrack and played Rolling Loud New York.
